JLR challenged us to raise the standard for model comparison and car configuration across the Range Rover lineup — creating tools that are visually immersive, deeply intuitive, and technically precise.

Making complexity

The core challenge was researching and mapping every viable combination of configurable car parts — then presenting them in a way that even a buyer with no technical knowledge could understand exactly what they were choosing. Clarity without simplification.

Process

Six steps
to launch.

From goals definition to live development handoff — a rigorous, user-centred process that balanced Land Rover's premium identity with the technical complexity of real-time vehicle configuration.

Goal DefinitionRequirements & Scope
Based on prior user research, we defined the product requirements: multi-aspect vehicle customisation, real-time pricing updates, financing integration, save & share functionality, and an experience intuitive enough for non-expert buyers.

Information ArchitectureSite Map & User Flows
Designed a full site map and two primary user flows — one for the configurator (model selection to completion) and one for the comparison tool — mapping every decision point and transition state.

Wireframes & PrototypesFrom Layout to Interaction
Low-fidelity wireframes validated layout and hierarchy. Evolved into interactive Figma prototypes with animations simulating real-time photo updates, side panel configuration, and pricing changes.

Visual DesignLand Rover Identity
Applied Land Rover's visual system — premium palette, refined typography, high-quality imagery. Designed for both desktop and mobile, with micro-interactions to guide and elevate the experience.

Usability TestingReal Users, Real Feedback
Tested with real users to identify navigation friction. Design was iterated based on direct feedback — improving flow clarity, option labelling, and the configuration completion path.

Development & DeliveryHandoff & Optimisation
Worked directly with the development team throughout implementation. Conducted reviews and A/B testing to optimise conversion. The final design is now live on the Land Rover website.
